    Hand Press slop?

Not sure if this belongs here.

I bought my Hand Press a few months ago and have roughly 3000 9mm through it. The thing is loosening up quite a bit, mainly due to the steel hinge pin at the bottom. At first I thought it was slop from the aluminum, doesn't seem to be the case.

I can move the levers about 3/4" toward the ram's travel and it not do anything.

As long as the ram itself doesn't have play in it, you should be okay. Check the ram for side to side play, then lube the linkage.

    Lee Hand Press Slop

I've got a couple of these and have used them a lot. Both developd a bit of loose play, but it does not seem to have any effect on anything. Its wise to keep any part that moves lubricated. Ordinary 3 in 1 oil is ok, vasoline will work, but white lithium grease lasts longer and is less messy. It is not likely that the steel pin(s) will wear out or develop play due to wear for a very long time. Aluminum will show/develop wear before steel does, but as long as all moving surfaces are a bit slick, neither will happen for quite a while.. LLS
