Looking for AR upper from reputable company

I am working on a couple builds and want to know if any of you have a place you would recommend for uppers? I would also like to know if there are any you wouldn't recommend? Some of these companies are running, as you know, very long backorders and just want to know if I am being jerked around. I am currently looking at Rogue Elite.

model 1 sales has built 4 uppers for me; 223 24 inch fluted bull barrel, 5.56/.223 20 inch standard upper, 7.62 x 39 20 inch standard upper and a 6.8 Rem SPC 20 inch upper. All these uppers have scope rails and no sights. they shoot great, no probs.....very accurate...JimP.

At any point a certain model may say "Out of Stock", but you pick what you want, and you might have to wait a few day's, but the price is certainly right. A big plus that helps with the wait time is the fact that their price includes the bolt carrier group, unlike a lot of others who are more expensive.

a search for model one will give you some mixed results from customers for reliability. there for the most part entry level pieces. That said the stainless barreled one i have is probably the most accurate ar i own. problem is right now as youve no doubt found out is that theres about none anywhere. Id say grab whatever one you can and be happy with it.

What are you looking for? A hobby rifle, target rifle, or a combat rifle?

    Hobby, Model 1.
    Target, Rock River.
Combat, (most reliable not necessarily a tack driver) Bravo Company.

    You have a definate problem!

I went to the SHOT Show and NOBODY had any stock. Some outfits were quoting 12-14 MONTHS!

You picked the worst time to build an AR that we have seen in the last 4 years or ever for that matter.

Right now finding a specific model is virtually impossible. Find ANY model is nearly impossible.

If you watched Shooting USA this last Wednesday 2/13/13 You would have seen me talking to the Del-Ton Engineer behind Jim Scouten. I was talking to them about ways to increase their production, and during the show I actually hooked them up with two outfits that already make AR internal parts for Colt and Ruger and others.

My sole purpose in doing this was to try to get them to make me an upper for MY stripped lower. They currently need 50,000 sets of parts just to cover their existing orders for "completed rifles." This doesn't take into consideration "rifle kits," uppers, or loose parts for Midway and Brownells.

We will probably be waiting for some time for our Uppers. Be patient.

I put off my build until this political mess sorts itself out. Keep writing and calling your congressmen/women.
