    purchasing a Sharps reproduction rifle

I am asisting a friend in purchasing a Sharps reproduction rifle. I am in the hunt for a rifle if reasonable quality in the range of $1K. If you know of leads/sites that might be helpful, it would be appriciated.

    Thank you

    Beware of the IAB sharps

    Pedersoli is the better one.

If you look in enough places you will probably run across Sharps pattern rifles carrying the Uberti name. They just started marketing them this year.
They are built by Pedersoli...just so you know.

Here are the retail sites I monitored when I was looking for a rifle:
    http://www.dixiegunworks.com/advance...=M1874+or+1874

    http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/co...equestid=53409

    http://www.cherrys.com/ped_cart.htm

And here are the online 'second hand' sites:

    http://www.gunsamerica.com/2369/2369-random-1.htm

    http://www.gunbroker.com/

    http://www.auctionarms.com/

On these last two sites, just type in the search terms, '1874 or Sharps' (no quotes) to get to the good stuff.

Try contacting Buffalo Arms. They get a lot of trade in's pass through, and they know how to grade a rifle.
