    Charles Daly

About 2 years ago my Charles Daly .45 was stolen Serial #CD011153.
    It's a 1911 model fixed sights, blue.
I hope it's some where here in Texas so I can get it back. If I'm lucky.
If anyone has a Charles Daly gun hang on to it. They went out of business so they are going to be collector items soon.

I always check with the local Sheriffs Dept before a personal purchase. You never want the baggage a serial number cam carry.

Gun thefts suck - but I found a practical solution... It's called "cheap ****".

Keep your good stuff well hidden. Keep your good stuff safe well hidden.

Buy a cheap Stack-on "gun cabinet" and put a Mosin, a cheap shotgun and a broken handgun in it.

Make sure it's right out in the open, but with 2 or 3 locks on it.

THAT is what they will steal... not my G3 in the upright freezer...

I have several to report. These were stolen from a friend on a fixed income. He saved for several years to buy these. Not sure exactly when they were taken. They left the empty boxes and they only noticed them missing a few months ago.

    Stolen in Telfair Co. GA.
    Two Ruger Vaqueros
SS 44 magnum, wood grips, 7 1/2" barrel, SN 056-95270
Blued 357 magnum, wood grips, 5 1/2" barrel, SN 058-35773

This is mine. It was stolen from my daughter's apt.

Stolen in Milledgeville area. S&W SW40GVE, silver slide, green frame, SN: RAX5755, blue S&W case , and four magazines.

The moral question now is do you not get the number run for fear of losing the pistol but chance getting caught with it which would be a felony preventing you from possessing any weapons for the rest of your life or do you get it run and chance losing just that one. It would be very nice if the people in charge of law enforcement would allow the citizens to check if a number is on the hot list or not before they buy a second hand gun. That way, the law abiding citizens could prevent themselves from unintentionally receiving stolen goods.

Of course, anything that improves the availability of legal guns to the public at large does not seem to be on the to-do list for "our" government.

My son has my Great Grandpa's Marlin 30WCF Rifle with octagon barrel and his Kimber custom carry 3" 45acp stolen in South Carolina. Several months later they were recovered by local LEO. We were both happy.
The firearms were NOT in a safe, but are now.

Never had any firearms stolen nor lost. A few years ago, my wife suggested that I move all my guns out of my home office closet (this was a ploy on her part to get me to do the work I should be doing instead of playing with my "toys") into a narrow hall closet with a deadbolt key lock. I've done that, it works very well for storage and is somewhat innocuous (downstairs at the end of the hall etc).

That said, the fact is that my firearms and related accessories are concealed behind only a simple interior door of standard height & approx 20" wide. The utility of the spce is ideal, the actual safety - not so much. Have often thought of having a safe door mounted on a steel frame to replace the standard door but have no idea of the availability of such a thing. Anybody ever heard of one of those? I actually have seen BIG ones, but nothing the size I'm referring to...

Oh, yeah?! I thought they only made certain sizes that were"standard" production for their company(ies). Cool - I'll start nosing around about that. Thanks.
