    i case y'all missed it.
if you heat up the boolits before adding the lube it coats them better.
    and they dry faster.
i done a batch of 45/70's today and i couldn't see the lube.
i can sure feel it though.
they will get checked and sized.
    then another light coating....

this is still the origional [modified] batch i made oh so long ago,it has been distributed out here and there, and has lubed umpteen thousand boolits.
about 2-3 thousand more and i'm gonna have to make another batch.

you guy's could just go order some from white label lubes.

Noticed I had some leading at the end of the bore in one of my 300 blackout rifles last week. I have been using 45/45/10 exclusively for subsonic, and supersonic with a gas check. As I recall, leading at the end of the bore is indicative of not enough lube. Should I switch out to pan lube for this one, add more 45/45/10, clean my gun more than every 1000 rounds, or just not worry about it and make more Edd's Red?

I would try cleaning every 500 before you change anything, I wish I could shoot that much. I use 45/45/10 and carnuba red for the faster stuff.

that's not indicative of not enough lube.
it's indicative of the lube not working at that point.
try adding about 20% b-wax to your 45/45 lube and see what happens

That's what I needed to know. Thanks Runfiverun! So I need something to transition from a hard lube when pressure drops off towards the muzzle. This leading is probably coming from my subsonic loading's then, and not the supersonic I had suspected. Now if I am cleaning the lube off of the nose by tumbling for 15 minutes after loading do I still have enough on there? I just started doing that to keep my chamber clean of case lube. I tumble twice to get some lube visibly in the lube groove.

Wow. Just did this and is sooooo much better than straight Alox.
Mine is kind of thin. I think I may have added a little more mineral spirits than suggested, but it still seems to work fine. Drys evenly and you can hardly see it. You can certainly tell they're lubed though.
    This is great.

It may have been mentioned in a previous thread but recently I started warming my bullets on a heating pad till there warm to the touch before applying the lube and I've found it give a much more even coat on the bullets. You can also lay them in direct sunlight in a warm area and heat them as well before lubing.

Just made a batch to try. Anyone use it on the #68 clone for 45 ACP ?

edit; I just rolled these around in a plastic container with the mix.
Pulled a cardboard box out of the recycle bin and covered it with waxed paper & dumped 'em out

cptkeybrd, Sorry I should have been more specific, I run both of these loads out of a Ruger Blackhawk .38/.357/9mm convertible. The revolver has an extra 9mm cylinder and makes it very versatile. I think I bought if from a gentleman on this forum several years ago either from New York State or Pennsylvania. It's served me well, these two loads are what I carry when I'm out woods walking for the most part. Never tried to fire the 9mm from an auto, might try tomorrow though, doubt if it will cycle the action. Probably need a Smith and Wesson Model 52 for that they will run wadcutters.

Hi guys. I have been using this method for a while now and I will warm up the boolits in a little plastic honey pail. What I do is run a sink full of water as hot as the tap will go,the throw the pail with boolits in there to float around with my LLA bottle full of 45 45 10. Leave it for a couple of minutes until the lube is very liquid and the boolits will be nice and warm. Add lube to pail of boolits swirl and pour out on wax paper.

I just brewed up my first batch today, boy does the Johnson's stink up the house...Anyway I measured everything as precisley as I could and do believe I made a good batch. I havn't coated any boolits yet but when I shake it it seems just a tad more liquidy than plain LLA. Is that right? I have read that some people said theirs were thicker than peanut butter??? That sounded kind of ridiculously thick...

    hello all,
so i have about 1k 120gr 9mm bullets with 1 coat of llx on them. i am wondering if i can size and then use this recipie?
sure would be nice to not have to have sticky bullets anymore....

or the most efficient way of removing pure llx from 1k bullets?

Dust the ones you have put too much on with Mica. Gets rid of the sticky mess.

Talcum powder will also work; it's almost exactly the same thing as mica. Check the fine print on the label and make sure it says "talc" and not corn starch.

Then, don't use so much lube next time
