    Thanks

I always thought it was beeswax. I've used it for years mixed with
parafin and a little vasaline. Have shot 30 cal boolits at 2000 fps
with no sign of leading. Works for me.....

I've shot it before also and yes, it will work. Seems a lot more sticky than beeswax. I phoned the company that makes it in North Carolina. The company told me that it definitely DID NOT have any beeswax in it. They said it was a heavy petroleum wax, it most likely has something similar to STP mixed in with it to make it sticky.

Yup - great for toilets, ok for bullet lube for smokeless , but it will make a nasty mess if used with black powder.

Never tried it for lube but it makes a great flux.

I use it for sealing commodes to their flanges, works a lot better than LBT Blue.

Way back when I think they were Beeswax as they were a sim. color. Today they are some kind of reclaimed petrolium product. I have made a decent lube using 2oz BW, to 2oz parrafin to 1oz TRW w/ about a tbs of alox. Runs good to 1200fps 1700fps so far & as accurate as Lars BAC but needs just a tiny bit of heat in the sizer.

They haven't been made of beeswax for a long time. They're made of "slack wax," the wax chilled, strained and pressed out of lubricating oil that still has a good bit of oil in it. Too soft to work as a lube by itself, and has a low melting point. May be useful blended with other things.

You won't believe this, but they're fantastic for setting toilets.

I use it mixed with wax and a tablespoon or 2 of Alox. I pan lube with it occassionally - it's tricky for me to get the mix just right (not too soft, not too hard)...but it comes along eventually.

I use beeswax in my lube and keep a toilet ring around the shop to lubricate wood screws.

Back when i was an apprentice plumber about 40 or so year back they were beeswax. Now days they are not made of strictly beeswax but an assortment of "other" ingredients and dyed honey color. I can remember scraping that old beeswax off the outer side of toilets and drain pipes to make candles with, my friends enjoyed the "beeswax aroma"? Robert

Just one word of advice: Use the new toilet wax rings, not the used ones!

Does anybody have an idea when the Bee's Wax was removed from toilet rings? My Dad left a stash of them that was overlooked since 1976 when he retired.

Yes! always use fresh, whether toilet rings for lube, toilet paper for fillers, or cat litter for tumbling media........
