Accurate boolit/load for .38 spl, plain base

I'm trying to get my shooting back in tune after only shooting at steel plates for a long time. To stretch my lead supply, I'd like to use 1 of my .38 specials.

I would like to hear of any boolit/load combos that have produced good 50 yard+ accuracy for you. I consider 2" or less at that range to be a good load. I have tried several different wadcutters, but have never had a bunch of luck at longer ranges. I'd really like to stick with a plain base design. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Bullseye. The amount your gun likes that is under published max.

In a MARLIN 1894 357 Mag I use 2gr starting of IMR Trail Boss 547 FPS. I went up to 5gr and it shot just as well. In the marlin at 35 yards I can put them all touching.

Thanks for the tips guys. I have a few venues to pursue. The weather isn't supposed to cooperate tomorrow, (40 mph wind predicted). If the weather guy is wrong, I'll try a few non-wadcutter loads.

I like 4 grains of 231 and the Lee 125 RNFP. You get a lot of cheap shooting that way.
