Skinny on Felix lube? Also sizing beofre Pan Lubing?

I made a batch of Darr's lube at home simply because I had most of the ingredients at the house already, but have not had a chance to try it yet.

I see that a lot of people use Felix lube on here and I was wondering if anyone had used both? I was kind of looking for a comparison to see if there was a whole lot more benefit to using Felix over the Darr?

Also, I noticed that there are about an equal number of people that size before they lube (pan lube and lee type push through sizer) and the other way around. Any benefits to either or is it just a personal preference thing? I am still new to all this so forgive me.

saz, I've played around with some home made lubes and have come to the conclusion that what I can get for $20.00 from Lar's is as good or better than what I can spend a couple of hours cooking up. That gives me more time for casting, reloading and shooting. Why should we step over a dollar to pick up a penny?
I hope you a safe and speedy return to home and loved ones. Thanks for your service to the safety and welfare of your fellow service members and the objectives of the free nations.

Saz, I've used both and there's no comparison. No offense to Barry Darr or anyone who uses his formula, but for me it falls way short of the mark at higher velocites, melts and runs in the Texas Heat (spoiling powder and primers sometimes), and has comparatively poor accuracy in most stuff than Felix. I can make Felix lube any consistency I need, even altering the proportions for different applications as required.

As Ed said, Lar's lubes are cheap and about the best commercial stuff out there, but many folks like me enjoy making their own stuff, and, at a certain shooting level, one can actually see the difference various lubes make.

But if you're shooting the old #68 in the 1911 at 700 fps all day, Barry's formula will serve you well.
