    Ted Williams 30-30

I saw a Ted Williams 30-30 tonight in a local gunstore. It looks like a Winchester 94 with the top eject. Is this a clone that Winchester made for Sears?

He's asking $175 for it because Bubba put a lot of scope mount holes in it in the past.

The bore looks pristine so just curious if its worth going back to get it.

    Bruce,
It is exactly what you think, a winchester with a sears banner on it. Personally I would not buy something that has been made into a swiss cheese.
I can only pass on what a pawn shop owner friend of mine told me: Christmas is coming, everyone wants to be the hero and save the day which means a lot of guns will go to the pawn shop. Keep your eyes open for good deals around then.

    I would.
It is a sears. They fire well. Winchester made it.

The rifle WAS a fine one! Lots of FINE ones have been turned into parts guns by Black & Decker.

The Ted Williams (Sears Model 54) has a bunch of factory holes in the left side of the receiver, or at least mine does.

    I bought it

Got off work early tonight and went in and laid cash for it.

Here are the pictures of my "new model 100 30-30" compared to my 1936 made Winchester 1894 made in 32 Win Spl.

I see that the holes are there by design it seems though someone replaced the original screw with an allen-headed screw.

I'll call Numrich later this week to get a couple of original screws to replace the wrong one and the two missing screws.

There is a small ding in the side of the stock but it lends character.

The bore is immaculate! I'm looking forward to using cast through it!

I think Sears had them all built with scope mount holes drilled & tapped.

I'm jealous. Nice rifle. Here in Sunnygrad, Californicate the pawn shops don't have the evil firearm.
