I tested my son's newer 336 30-30 with micro grove rifling out today. I use the 180 gr Gc .309 over 26.5 grs of IMR 3031. I lubed the boolit with melted JPW, melted beeswax( very small amount), and a very small amount of alox. The boolits didn't look like they were lubed at all.
I shot 2 deer last year with this load, one shot each with my older 336.
Looking at his bore after about 30-40 rnds, shinny and clean, very little smoke and very accurate.
BTW.........This load was not chronographed , my chronograph became a statistic, wounded in battle. Any ideas on speed of this load to about 29 grains of 3031
I just had to try this lube out as it works great with other loads also.
