    I know yuck!
But at least I'll be able to see to shoot again.

I'm going to have to put red dot scopes on my 1886's to be able to keep shooting. I have one on the way.

Not my gun but a real good likeness sans the rubber recoil pad.

Put some "iron sight camo" on it; that will hide it.

doesn't look half bad. a lot better than a scout mount and a aimpoint would look.
Some where between here and there.....

It is kinda like putting bras on the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders. It may be necessary to maintain a functional unit but it never helps the aesthetics of the situation.

Getting old sucks but the alternative is rotten.

I think that looks a heck of a lot better then a scope (even the old style scopes).

If this works out I'm going to put one on my Springfield Armory Loaded SS 1911 I bought 4 years ago for $1200.00 and shot 50 times because I can't see the sights.

I gotta say that looks as bad as wart on a super models ass, but what a gorgeous rifle that is.

Good Idea! I have a Shiloh with no rear sight and I can't see the front with my right eye through the tang and I am right eye, hand, foot dominate but have been learning to shoot left handed, it will bruise you up.
And you aint old until you admit it and I aint going to.

You may want to get a frame mounted red dot. The ones mounted on the slide get beat up a fair amount. At least if you put it on the frame it doesn't need go back and forth for every round fired and the dot kind of stays put. There is nothing wrong with a dot sight.. lots of people young and old use them..

MAn you have to do what you have to do. It may not look aestethically pleasing but hey if it works and keep you out there shooting then it is worth it. LEt me know how it works out on the 1911.
Damned bifocals I have makes sights blurry or tilted depending on where I place my check. SO I will probably be investigating alternative sights soon also.
    That is a beautiful rifle!

Duke, have you considered - or tried - the Merit suction cup optical sight? It sticks on your glasses and swivels into place for shooting or out of the way when not shooting. The built-in adjustable iris allows the shooter to vary the hole size to sharpen the image..... much like using a peep sight does. An elderly man I knew in England used one and it was rare that I beat him with a pistol... and I was a pretty fair pistol shot then.

FWIW, I'm seriously considering one myself. I'm 66 and my eyes aren't what they used to be. It's either a peep sight or scope or I might as well save my ammo!

I tried the eye cup. It's not real user friendly of hunt with though.
    Thanks though.

Nice for a race or competition gun but not real good for carrying.
