    drain pipe cheek piece

i'me sure that i'm not alone that the factory stocks don't come close to fiting me.
i take drain pipe , the solid black ABS type, cut a little lomger than the cheek piece.
split it lenght wise and put it the oven on a old cookie sheet at 380 deg for about
10 min or until it gets rubbery. quickly put it on the stock and hold it in place with
2 short pieces of flat wood boards. in about 30 to 45 seconds it hard again. trim
and glue with polyeurathane glue, the stuff they use for car windsheilds. here is a pic
of a TC stock and a couple of savege of mine.

this is what i do with wood stocks. sorry guys i type with one finger and i'll let the
    pics do the talking.

Looks great, I have the same problem with my Encore. Who's hardware are you using for the cheek pieces on the wood stocks.

all the hardware is home grown. 1 in alluminum turned down to 7/8 in, knurled
for epoxy grip. stainless 3/8 bolts silversoldered on to SS plate, and 3/8 SS
    set screws.
-13 deg C here this mornning
    cheers

I really like innovative and inventive things. This one qualifies as both. Very well done!

Dang it! I can't see the pics on my computer.

What size pipe do you use?

Can you PM me with some pics?

Sorry--did a search and found this thread, now immensely interested.

Is the cheekpiece for the wood stocks adjustable up and down? Having trouble understanding how the "knobs" on the side work with the cheekpiece.

    Thanks for your patience,

WOW, this is an old thread.
jkpq45, yes the knobs are usually for adjusting the cheek piece up or down so you can still use the iron sights if needed or change to match the scope height.
On the .22 that I have pictured the cheek piece is adjusted by allen bolts and plastic washers for shims. The allen bolts are threaded thru the brass rods going crossways in the stock.

This guy has done a few shotguns for my FIL and me, cheekpieces and adjustable buttplates too, and a genu-ine Bump Buster for one of the trap guns: http://speedbumpadjustablecomb.blogspot.com/

Might give ya'll some ideas. I don't know where he gets his hardware, I know a few items are production stuff but I think most of it he contracts a machine shop to produce. He might sell the post hardware for the cheek pieces by itself if someone's interested in doing their own but don't hold me to that. Ken's a good guy to deal with, but beware his dry sense of humor.
