One of the scrapyards that I go to recently bought a new "gun" - they are very pricey, in the 10's of thousands of dollars. I asked kindly if they would do an analysis on one of my range lead ingots. The results: 98.54% lead, 1.29% antimony, .174% copper (analysis done on 7/31/2023).

Hi to all,

I fetched around 800 pounds of wheel weights last week from my friend's small tire shop, but a very busy shop. I sorted through the buckets this past weekend.

Yesterday, I turned into the scrapyard 306 pounds of steel ww's. I was surprised at the amount of lead ww's that were in the buckets!!! Most all of them were clipon, and about 40+ pounds of stickons. I also have about 44 pounds of zincs. There are some people at my club shooting bullets made from zinc, which is very interesting!

Another interesting thing! I was pleasantly surprised with the percentage of lead wheel weights (around 50%) with last week's pick up. A few years ago, it was around 25% (and I have no explanation for this good fortune).

I never thought I'd be smelting ww's ever again, but soon I will be.
