Kathy is excellent to work with. I ordered some range scrap just before Christmas, when USPS was at it’s peak of holiday volume. My USPS next day priority mail with the MO was lost for 2 weeks. Kathy was nice enough to send me screen shots of my mutilated shipping label when it finally arrived, which I used to get my priority mail fee refunded. Lumograph pencil test required a 2B which puts it at the 11-12 advertised hardness.

Unfortunately, I am near the end of the ingots, with a waiting list. At this time, I anticipate perhaps getting more ww's I hope by end of April. I was due around Nov. to pick up ww's from 1 of the 2 big tire stores. I called to follow up in beginning of Dec, and was told they were filling the buckets. I asked "are we good", and was told "yes"... and probably January I would be called. Not. So I don't know what happened because I pay better than scrap value. And the other big supplier had a change in personnel, so the foreman quit months ago... not sure if I will be called upon. This leaves a smaller shop, operated by a friend and this is where I have been getting my ww's. The supply I have now, is from his shop. I suspect he will be ready for a pickup hopefully by end of April. I have added you to the waiting list (more for my reference) - and I understand if people find clipon ingots elsewhere in the meanwhile. Thanks.

How are you fixed for lead now Kathie?

Still waiting for wheel weights. I have range lead for sale; I have a hold on sales at the moment until I can update the pricing in this thread and my vendor sponsor thread. Can no longer continue my long-running fire sale.

Hi Capt...lnteresting thread on my first visit to vendors section.. App 8 yrs ago l got back into casting and was fortunate in accessing a couple suppliers for lead.. 0ne was an lndoor range and the other a truck tire shop.. Thru them l was able to bank a lifetime supply of lead for my own use.. Most lnteresting was your info on BNH of range scrap and also clip ons and stick ons.. Your comments on lead wheel weight scarcity mirror mine down here in the Sunny South on the GA/SC border... l still get weights from one local shop here.. l predict the demise of lead weights to be here very soon... Magically turning my stash of lead to GOLD... the goal of ancient alchemists thru the ages...

    Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to you too!!!! Yes, lead ww's on the decline.... but for now, I have a steady supply of range lead. Thankfully! I even turned down an offer to buy more ww's from the scrapyard (the one where I fetched about 600lbs). They dropped the price by 5 cents! I told my friend I would love to have them, but not at the price he is paying the customer for. I had been dropped by 2 big tire firms in that area, so I chuckle - because I can buy their weights thru the scrapyard (and the 600 pounds was from one of the 2 former clients)!!!! But until the scrapyard gets wise and stops paying ridiculous price for batches that contain about 70% steel, I have to pass. The one tire shop that I got the 1000+ pounds from will no doubt be calling me. I will pay them half of what I paid before; if they go elsewhere, I am OK with that. It is sad to take a tray of lead, and fill the large vegetable can with the steel. And then empty the can, and have more steel JUST FOR THAT ONE TRAY. Last year this time, it would take 3 of my trays to fill the same can with the steel. I like your idea of turning the lead into gold!!! We can dream on! And in 2008, zinc was very rare. I would run across the small rectangular ones with the design on it. I had about 80-85% yield in lead back then. Oh memories............. as you know, it takes time to sort through the ww's... and to find plastic ones, plastic coated steal clipons, zinc stickons (more varieties now), zinc clipons, fiber stickons... uggggh. We're not in Kansas any more!!!!!! ~ K

Received my shipment of "gold" today. Great packaging - feel like I should return it to be recycled for someone else. Thank you for the prompt shipment.
