A friend gave me a eight sided ingot with a H molded on top. Any idea what it might be? I guessing about 2 lbs.

Could be anything....
My overly subjective, dirt-floor-lab, low-tech alloy analysis method:
When presented with a mystery ingot I always pull known alloy ingots from the stash to compare it to. I compare hardness, sound, surface etc by inspecting closely, dinging the known alloys on it for relative hardness and "sound", and also scratch it some with a screwdriver. My "known" alloys are pure, "plumber's", mixed outdoor berm lead, WW, linotype, monotype & tin.
Unless it is obviously soft lead or something that is virtually indistinguishable from WW or lino, I make notes and put in the back of the stash for if I ever get low & deperate. Without a spectometer it is as much as I feel I can do.
plumbers lead, got a bunch of them at yard sales
Thanks. I was thinking plumber lead, this came from a yard sale too
