    Lathesmith's Star dies

Just wanted to throw out another recommendation for these quality dies. I now have 3 Lathesmith dies w/ punches vs 2 original 40/50s vintage star ones and Lathesmith makes just as nice of ones if not better. For anyone curious, I am using a vintage Star and these fit perfect.

Photo above has the two original Star Die and Punch sets on the left vs the new Lathesmith sets on the right.

Also wanted to say thank you to Lathesmith on helping me with a couple questions I had being new to checking on a star. Can’t believe how much faster it is than on my 4500. Guess it’s time for the 4500 kit to be converted in to more Star dies or maybe a new magma.

PS: always spring the extra few bucks for the locking Nut, well worth the investment.

    Hello Chris,

Repeat customer here. I need a .401 die with two lube holes, first row .775" down and the second row at .9". I would also like one flat punch and a lock nut. Please pm me the price with shipping. Thanks.

Do you make the star top punches to match a nose profile? I guess I should ask, what is the best way to seat a gas check in a star? Cupped punch and nose first or cupped punch and base first or flat punch and nose first? I am working with a very high velocity 22 and I want to make sure the checks are well seated as the base of the bullet is below the short neck of the case. I also assume a .313 size die would not be an issue with a flat punch?
