This is a cartridge I really like and have access to 300 grain gc's. Anyone have any experience with something like this.

What's the twist rate on your 338-06?
It's all chicken, even the beak!

    Not YET.
Just picked up a Lyman 33889. Supposed to drop a 247 gr. FN/GC.
I'm really anxious to try it. My twist is 1 in 10.
Those 300 grainers must be hard to find.

Thanks guys for the response. I was beginning to thinl I was the only one interested in that great cartridge.

The twist is 1 in 10 and shoots the Horn. 250 RN very well. I have a friend with the .338-06 Ackley Improved version who own the mould. He gets good results with the 300 grain GC when he uses a "case full of WC 860." I thought I'd seek advise before I started down that "case full" road.

I`m afraid that I have the same affliction as you for this cartridge. I`ve had 3 at 1 time or another, down to 1 at present. I`m just getting into casting for mine with a LEE mold at present. Look on the NEIhandtools.com site catalog page 6 #102 and #103 molds for the .338. I would appreciate any cast loads you may have done with the LEE mold. Mine seems to love the 215 gr. Sierra "J" bullets.Robert
