Wild Lobster - Product USA ...

... save the rubber bands used to keep the claws closed. They make excellent rubber bands to keep your mold halves together

Also, an old bicycle inner tube cut into rings makes excellent mold bands.

Use a chicken neck on a string and a dip net to catch crawfish.

    Lobster? Will you adopt me?

Da*m, you must be rich! I have to make do with the rubber bands from bunches of broccoli! That just goes to show the divide between the poor and the rich. Whats the source of the rubber band they use to hold their mould handles together with.

Ya learn somethin new evera day.

Lobster is for them yankeefolk, the ones of us that *used* to be called middle-class (before that included those in 6-figure ranks) eat mudbugs.. that's about as close as we can get!

It's all in the perception of color.
Rich folks Lobster starts out brown, and turns red.
My BOLOGNA starts out red, and only gets brown around the edges, but it sure makes good gravy.
    Can you imagine lobster gravy?????

You'd be surprised how rarely we run into lobsters here in Kansas. . . . . .

And I tried the bike inner tube deal, couldn't get the band over even an
single cav mold. I think I need a fatter inner tube.

I think bologna is higher per lb now than what the lobstermen get for their lobsters. Actually, I think bologna is about three times as high.

    Rubber bands???

Never had one stay together long enough to interest me in keeping molds together!

Been using a cheap roll of electric tape! One quick pass around the blocks and pull tight and those blocks are mated till the end of time!

................Being in the Navy they had a different name for coldcuts but the thing I recall was I was told it was the most expensive meal to feed. I like lobster but someone else would have to be paying for dinner! Thing I've been doing for coldcuts the past few years is making my own. Donna bought one of those vacumn sealer things, and then never used it.

Couple years ago I decided to buy a couple cooked hams and a prime rib when they were on sale at Easter. Took them to the deli deptartment and they thin sliced them for me. Brought them home and vacumn sealed up 10 or so slices in each packet, then tossed them into the chest freezer.

I will walk 5 miles to a good Cajun Crawfish boil but not 5 blocks for a lobster. I once had this idea many years ago about cross breeding them two so that we could have some "BIG CRAWFISH" LSU even started a test that resulted in some that were around 3 lbs but I never heard how it ended. Must have been too much trouble or it would be on the tables.

Hey guys ... getting the rubber bands doesn't mean you have to buy the lobsters. Ask at any seafood restaurant that has it on the menu to save the bands for you.
They are heavy and lasting - not like the cheap rubber bands made in China and India. Plus, they are pretty ... Yellow!

Ya ever heard that expression "Who Bells the Cat?"

Well, "Who Bands the lobster? If you miss, OUCH! Do you use a miniature squeezer chute like with cattle? Or maybe it takes two people, one to hold both claws and one to band. Can you imagine going into the employment office: "I'm a lobster bander." Or claiming Workmans Comp "What's my on the job injury?"

I started using tie-wraps because occasionally the rubber band would deteriorate and become 'gooey' and it was a pain to clean off the handles. It happened more often on block sets due to the anti-corrosion coating I used softened the rubber real fast, like in a couple of weeks.
