    been casting

    I have been casting all day long man I am never going to buy a single boolit mold I might have about 500 but it was fun any way here is a pic of my new boolit can somebody tell me if this is a keith

    Depends on your definition. Elmer insisted the the lube groove be square, not rounded like this one is.

    Looks like a Lyman 452423. Whatever the mould number, that design is basically a "Keith Type". If you look into the history of the modern SWC boolit you'll see there's quite a bit of latitude as to the exact definition of a "Keith" boolit. In general trems it'll be a plain base SWC with a full caliber shoulder, strong driviing bands, a deep crimp groove and one good deep lube groove. The final results depend on the mould maker and his interprtation of Elmers design.

    Maybe a 454424 ..... weight 255 grains. 452423 has a shorter nose.

    Or a 452424. I have never seen a 454424 with round grease groove. Gianni.

    My notion of a "Keith type" bullet has been one with a wide meplat and a "guidance band" in front of the crimp.....

    Oh yeah, and as 454PB mentioned, square shaped grooves to "stiffen" the boolit....
