I don't know if customers are supposed to post here or not, but I am very pleased with Randy's service and wanted to compliment him on that and also mention that his beeswax is top shelf. If I ever run low I will buy from him again.

My raw material comes from someone else's bees.
Someday i would like to have my own hives. I grew up around honey bees when i was real young, had hives all over the place no more than 100 ft from the house.

I was never stung by the Honey Bees, i always got stung by harasing the other beesnest in the area. I would always get hit by a few Yellow jackets, i figured they had to have Honey hidden somewhere. Then the beekeeper explained a few things to me when i got old enough. By that time, i noticed girls and and left the beesnest alone.

just wondering randyrat. im a beekeeper myself.

i get stung but not very often. mostly they pay you no attention.

i have some wax now that needs to be refined and filtered. its really a job getting the wax to turn out nice and yellow. a man will dirty up a few pots and wreak havoc on the kitchen doing so.

OOOOHHH yeh, i went through that with my wife. i had to buy/beg/steal my own utensils and pots. Whatever is used for beeswax, STAYS beeswax. Don't ever think you'll just melt it off and clean it up before the wife gets home.
I've got pots that make my wife jelious, but i know she won't touch them. They are waxed, permantly.

He taught you about the birds and the bees?

Bee stings stop hurting after a couple days. Stings from girls hurt a lot longer.

I ordered 15lbs from Randy nearly a year ago. It is great stuff. I use it to wax bow strings as well and 50/50 with bear grease to lube ML patches.
He's a good man to deal with.

Not trying to do you out of a sale but I already have a large chunk of beeswax that was given to me several years ago by a local bee keeper, the problem is it's not nice a yellow like most I've seen but dark brownish colored. Is there anything wrong with using this as is for lube cookies or do I need to refine it fist and if so how do I do that? I don't want to waste this, there must be close to ten lbs. in that block, maybe a little more.

The brown color could be a sign it was burnt or over cooked, but otherwise it is just a darker batch of hive scrappings. Also depends what the bees are harvesting can have an effect on color of wax.

If you see big chunks of debre in in it, all you have to do is strain it through some white cotton cloth. One other method is to heat/melt it slow and let it sit/cool, all the settlings will be on the bottom, then just scrape the bottom

    bees wax

Are you still selling bees wax?
I am interesting in purchasing 5-10 lbs for use at home to make things.

If you still are selling..are the costs the same?
    Thanks,
    Tammy
