This reminds me of a small trap club that my friends & I used to go to while in high school in the 60's. We would fill clay birds with all kinds of things and glue a piece of paper on the back to hold it in. When the glue was dry, we trimmed off the excess paper with scissors and gave them to the guy in the pit to throw out randomly. My favorites were dove feathers that we saved from dove hunts, flour, the old IBM card punch-outs (chads?), 2 or 3 small paper airplanes, and the all time favorite, a plastic army man with a small plastic parachute that would deploy when the bird was hit. Great fun!

To save on paper that I print my targets on, I print bulls eyes on both sides of the paper. Nah...LOL.

    Dodgem250,

I am a big fan of multiple bullseyes on a single sheet of paper. It saves time, saves steps, and doesn't hold up the firing line in some range setups.

I print ONE good copy then take that copy to Office Depot and have them copy the target on heavy card stock. It costs a few bucks but it saves on my printer cartridge use.

    Smile cheap targets

I have my own range, so I am not taking funds from any club. (Mine doesnt sell targets) They are cheap compared with store bought, and I can print lots of them on one sheet which saves me trucking out to the backer as often. Thanks for the variety, I have seen most , but new are always good to break the boredom of the same ones all the time.

Only after I shoot a bunch of holes in it! Chili goes in those Styrofoam bowls anyways. Save your ink for the NFA paperwork we are all going to be sending in...

I've been making my own printer paper targets since the mid 80's.
You can do a lot of shooting before you have to change them.
I had a stand with clips to hold 2 side by each... but alas
it was stolen at the range, (no integrity in this world left at all )
    (maybe 10% of us...and I'll bet that's being a bit optimistic)
it was collapsible and very portable- I'll have to make a new one.
    one of these days.
I named it Target All (11x17) This incarnation is from '92.

I put mine up in triplicate so I only have to rip one off to get a fresh one. (lol)

When shooting my shotguns very often I'll use the shell from the previous shot as a pigeon. Those who reload shotgun shells might not like this idea :-p (I've been wanting to get shotgun reloading goodies...apparently the Lee setup is like 50$...Wonder if it's any good?)

A lot of ranges will offer targets...Ones I've been to, typically 10-25 cents a pop. Very often I just use a sheet of paper with a large sharpie dot or a circle drawn on it.

Curious about something: I saw at some range somewhere a guy next to me with his target being a printout of Obama. All personal feelings or attitudes aside from discussion (please), isn't this illegal? I ask because I heard somewhere even saying/joking that one is going to kill any president could land you in some hot water... Anyone?

I'll add- It would concern me a bit if I saw someone at a range shooting at a target of anyone (non celebrity/public figure). Not to the point where I'd call the cops, but...Eek.

I'm not certain of the legality of Obama targets, but it's unwise at best. I wouldn't want the attention, even if it were perfectly legal.

Try paper plate and a round bingo making paint. Lots of targets...... and if you know a couple of little old ladies that play bingo you can snap up their mostly empty markers.

I found a roll of butcher paper 24 in wide and the roll is over 3foot across at an estate sale. It cost a Pepsi to have someone help carry to the truck. I use Elmer's glue to past them on cardboard targets that get thrown away at the range. Yes I am cheap!

Try going to a local news paper office and ask about the ends of the rolls off their presses. The one near me sells them for a dollar a roll. This and some of the little color dots you can buy at the office supply make great targets. The roll paper also gives you a nice fresh backer to see where your shots are landing.
