    Quick trip

Had about 15 minutes at the sand pit today. My 38 Swede shoots factory copper clad just fine. No cast for it yet. The subject of the trip- my #4SMLE and the Fat 30 didn't fare so well. I could only find 5 cases so I loaded up what I had in front of 13.0 Red Dot. At 50 yards only one round struck the target and it was keyholing! I guess maybe a little more work is needed. I know I have a bag of 303 brass around here someplace.....

Might want to try 16 grains of 2400 as it is fairly good in my mil calibers. -JDL

what diameter is your enfield's bore? what diameter did you size the Fat 30? Some enfields can be .316 and some .308 depending on use and age of the barrel.

I usually load 11.5gr of Red Dot and size my bullets to .312 to meet my Enfield's requirements.

If all else fails try cornmeal filler over the powder. This should alow a marginal bullet to group. This brought a 2 groove Savage from Keyhole to under 3" at 100 yards.

Thanks guys. I gotta find the brass thats the gremilns have hid on me.

I thought the Fat 30 might be OK as the nose is an interference fit in the muzzle. No, I haven't gotten around to findng the throat size, but I recall shooting it 311299's fairly well some years ago. I need to get a big jug of time and spend some of it playing with this.
