    Paper patch

    Can anyone tell me what type of paper and it's thickness Paul Mattew's reccommend's in his book about paper patching?

    I made up a bunch year's ago and misplaced the type I was using

    .............Zuke, there's not just ONE suitable paper. It all depends upon what size the slug is, or what size you can make it (sizing) and what it has to fit into, etc & yadda 8)

    The simple answer though is probably 9# 25% cotton airmail paper. It's about .002" thick and is a real high quality stock. The only criteria the paper has to meet is that it has to be tough enough to be wetted and stretched as it's rolled onto the booilt, without tearing.

    Common useable papers:

    Dress pattern: .001 - .0015"
    9# Airmail : .002"
    12# Bond: .0025"
    16# Med Typing/copy Bond: .003"
    20# Bond : .0035 - .004"
    24# Bond: .004" and about the heaviest common paper used.

    Stay away from re-cycled copy or typing paper. It's kin to newsprint in useability.

    for paper look at suppliesnet.com I believe it is 55w for the number .. 5.70 for a 50 foot roll and is very good stuff............. Dean
