Question Rooster Zambini is it durable??

    Hi Everyone,

I have been using Lyman Moly and the normal "Ideal" lube and cant not stand the sticky tacky feeling the cast bullets have. Even downstairs at 70 degrees the lube is still not solid its to easiliy nicked by the other bullets in the bin.

My reloading and sizing area is in my lower level and temperature is never above 74 degrees. My reloads are all target rounds for my pistols all velocities are less than 950fps. I use a heated Lyman 4500 for sizing and lubing.

I would prefer a hard lube that is not tacky at room temperature and is durable enough to not come off my sized and lubed bullets. I store them in bulk in akro bins( you know the stackable Dillon bins)

I have searched the forums and it seems Rooster Zambini will meet my requirements?? Any suggestions?? (I do not want to make my on lube)

Carnauba Red will do you fine plus some, and the price cannot be beat.

I don't know if Lars has changed his recipe for Carnauba Red or not but the 10 sticks I bought from him a couple months ago is sticky. It was sticking to other bullets in the container and getting all over the bullet noses and tearing out of the lube grooves and in my dies. I sent him an email last week asking if I had a bad batch or he had changed his recipe but as yet I've had no answer. I've had to cut my Carnauba half and half with beeswax to get rid of the stickies. David R had given me some a year ago to try and it was not sticky, that's why I bought it.
If he's changed the recipe I'll go back to Magma hard lube that I've used all along. It's the same price and I've had no problems with it.

    Zambini

I have used a lot of the rooster labs Zambini. It is a good lube, tough and not sticky. I stored my lubed boolits in bulk with no problem. It needs heat. I now use lars carnuba red. I like it real well, it needs a little heat also. It is a little sticky, not bad, I use mica and put a little coat, stops the stickeys. Lars lube is cheaper than the zambini and he is a member here. I stand the bullets on their baase as they come out of the sizer with Lar's - if you let them sit for a little while and dry a bit the sticky problems are gone for the most part. I have some thick cardboard squares to use for this, then i stack them and let it cure for a couple weeks.

Seems like using a heater makes it stickier from the get go.

Takes a little longer but no big deal.

Before I started making my own lube, Zambini Red was my lube of choice. In fact I keep my RCBS sizer loaded with it at all times. It does require heat, but is very durable. I live in Texas and it's already getting nigh on 100°, so if I have problems with my home-brew lube, which is sticky, I'll switch back to Zambini. Good stuff.
