Round lead ball in an AR-15?

I would like to shoot my AR15 at my rimfire bullet trap, can I use .224 dia round ball(not sure where I would get them) powered by primer or maybe 1 - 2 gr. of Bullseye, Red Dot or something, I know they wouldn't cycle.

I shoot my 10/22 with Aguilla Super Colbri and manually cycle it.

If you can find air gun pellets with a skirt that will stay in the neck, they will work at short range just using a primer for power.

Maybe not as economical as a 22 cal BB or pellet but your still using a primer per shot,so why not just use a regular 22 cal cast boolit w/o the gc and a squib load @ 22LR velocity ,The accuracy has to be better at any normal shooting distance than a 22 cal RB.

22 caliber round balls can be found at places that cater to air rifle shooters.

Pyramid Air is one, I am sure there are others.

I use them in a 22 percussion underhammer.

    # 4 buck shot run through a .224 sizing die would give you a round ball.. but I agree, just us a boolit!

I was wondering the samething, if I could use a .50 Cal round ball in my .50 Beowulf, but with a full charge. Would it work, any input?

    Thanks

With a full powder charge I would venture a guess you accuracy would be abismal, bordering on non existant .

You can use a .22 pellet from an Air Rifle powered by a primer. I do it out of my 22hornet.

Use a 209 primer and you will have no problems, other than maybe loading.

I do the same thing with the Ballard I have that is chambered for the 22 WCF. This way I can still enjoy shooting it while trying to work up a blackpowder load for it.

Black powder in a 22 caliber bore... no wonder I talk to myself!
