    First batch of Felix lube

Made my first batch of Felix lube tonight. Added the soap flakes to the mineral oil and the castor oil and then heated it for 1/2 hour so I'm not sure if I screwed it up or not. After this mixture was cooked, I melted in my beeswax and then added in the lanolin and threw in a green crayon for some nice coloring. Will see how it turns out tomorow when it cools. Keeping my fingers crossed about adding the soap too soon.

Soap should be added when you did it. ... felix

I made my first batch a couple of weeks ago, a triple batch, I cooked the two oils together for 1/2hr. first, and then cooked the soap in.Till had to cook for some time to get all the little soap flakes to dissolve. Turned out good though.

Maybe, depending on looooob groooove shape. Be prepared to add something harder, like paraffin or carnauba, with preference for the latter. ... felix

Does the carnauba make your lube harder than the regular felix lube? Never having used the regular felix is it normally a hard or soft lube? I allso am interested in pan lubbing with it

Regular felix contains some carnauba from cheese/wiskey wrappers. If you cannot use that, use paraffin to make a harder lube for pan lubing. ... felix

I might look into the later, as I recently ordered a half pound of carnuba flakes.

I made up a batch of felix lube as per instructions and gave some to a friend who promptly pan lubed some 30 cal boolits and proceeded to shoot 3/4'' groups at 100 yards!

Meanwhile I was still shooting boolits lubed with red rooster and was shooting 1 & 3/4" groups at 100 yards. Both 308s. But he's a better shot than I am too.

Just so's ya know. That felix lube ain't no good, boolit holes all run together and can't see the individual shots!

    Good stuff Felix!!!

Got it off Feebay for like $5. I thought it was a decent deal, considering what I paid for it. Should last quite a while since all the Lubes that call for Carnuba only ask for just a small amount. I hear it does wonders on the barrel too. I think I might drop a spoon or two into my Old NRA Lube next time I pan lube. Its a bit to flexable and tacky for my liking.

Felix lube pan lubes real good with or without the carnuba and it doesn't make any difference
    what shape the grooves are.

While awaiting the experts I thot to google the term

Type 1 Carnauba Wax is the highest grade available producing a wax that is yellow/brown in color and is known as the "queen of waxes". This grade of Carnauba Wax is obtained from the tops of leaves which lack chlorophyll making the wax lighter in color

The source was ebay @ 5.99 for lb and looks like there's two new listings.

I suspect caranuba T-1 came before T-2 if T-2 exists.

    Found on another site

    carnauba has 4 grades
    T-1 is the purest (yellow)
    T-2
    T-3
T-4 is the least filtered (green/brown in color)
