    Need Hornet Mold Reccomendations

I finally got a Hornet that shoots (H & A 722). Now I want to cast bullets for this rifle.
Has anyone else "Been there, done that".
I have more molds and sizers than I know what to do with already, so I'd like to take the short route if possible.

    Barrel twist? Bore size?

Read the stuff on the .22 cal casting on the castpics site? Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the link. Look for articles by members. There are articles there re: the .223, as well as the Hornet.

I'm just starting down that road.

    Cheers
    Trev

I am also in the same boat, just ppicked up a contender with stock and forend in 22 hornet ,shoots great with j word bullets . Now its time to shoot real bullets. I have one mould that i just picked up at the Kittery trading post in Maine .Looks to be a 50 or 60 gr ,might work ,have not tried it yet. I guess it will be another adventure.

My Hornet has a .224 groove/14"twist and loves the Lyman 225415 sized .225. My metal is 19# of WW and 1# 50/50 solder. Use about 6.5-7.0g. of 2400. I've heard that 16" twist does better with the 225438.

I had a CZ Hornet that rather liked the 225415. My mould throws at 48gr in WW however. I believe the new version is heavier and may not suit the Hornet.
