    Arrow Wickliffes Anyone??

    Hello Gang!
I purchased my first Wickliffe 4 or 5 years ago; and honestly can say I've been impressed. Very nice shooting gun; and simple! Even with a Simmons scope, it's a tack driver. Mine's in 308. Does anyone ese around these parts own such a rifle? I don't shoot my Wickliffe near enough; only because it is so lovely! Lol!

    Thanks!

I have one of the new actions at my gunsmiths now. They are $425 complete, needing just a bit of fit and finish.

    Hello Rich,
Are the Wickliffes being made again; or, just the actions?
Great gun; no doubt. What caliber are you going with?
I'd like to see a photo or two when you get her done?

    Thanks,

I just layed one away today in .223 with a 6-24 scope for $525.00. It will be a gift to my Dad for father's Day and his birthday. It is a very pretty rifle. Later, moodyholler

    Wow MoodyHoller,
That's an awesome deal! Post us some pictures when you get it!
223 is not one of my favorite calibers; but any Wickliffe is; as far as rifles are concerned!

There were two different guys both claiming to be the "sole" righteous user of the name, and neither of them was involved in the original company.

They had a running skirmish going through a couple different forums about a year or so back, to the extent that they became persona non grata, and conversations about the "W" rifle were avoided quite studiously.

Those rifles were strong like dump truck. Pretty like dump truck, too.

Can't fault them for function and strength, though.

    Cheers

I ran across a Wickliffe that was made with three barrels that were easily interchangable for $1,100 a few years ago. Unfortunately, there was something wrong with the action. I could not close it. I handed it back to the dealer. He stuck his finger inside the action from the top to fiddle with something to get it closed. This happened EVERY time I opened it and I never did pick up his trick. I believe it was one of the unfinished ones that were left when the original production closed and was finished by someone else who did somthing wrong. I decided to buy a custom Ruger No. 2 in a 7mm/30-40 Improved Krag wildcat instead. Here is one of the things I found when I was considering it.

    New Wickliffe

Wickliffes are being made again in parts or completed rifles. www.wickliffe76.com. There is also an article on the old Wickliffes in the January issue of Guns Magazine.

This is now the only source for these rifles. John Duncan is not longer involved with the Wickliffe.

A gentleman who wrote an article on Wickliffes for Jan 09 Guns & Ammo ( thank you, olsingleshot) has helped me ID mine as original. 000 23X serial number. She now wears an old K-6 Weaver (wishing for a K-8) and hopefully I will get her on a bench next week.

    Yes, she gonna shoot!

Well, had a few minutes last Friday and got the Wickliffe on a set of sand-bags. I am impressed! Also, thanks to Tom Ondrus at Wickliffe76, I have the instructions for adjusting the trigger, and a bit more information. Nice guy, he took the time the day before he left for Africa to find this information and get it in the mail to me. regards, all

Tom's a really good guy, I talked him into modifying some wax castings to make mine with a rear tang long enough to put a vernier tang sight on. Then, decided to build something huge, and I had this 475 Gibbs reamer laying around on a shelf...

When it's done I'll let you guys know how I fare.
