Battery posts for lead. Not the insides.

A buddy of mine has a battery shop, and cuts the posts off of the DOA batteries, before palletizing them for the recycler. He uses the posts to repair good batteries with bad posts. He also will use them for fishing weights. He has 55 gallon BARRELS of posts. He has offered some to me for Boolets. The posts are cleaned before cutting them off. I know the hazards of melting down batteries for lead but what about just the posts. Thoughts ???

    +1!

Get all the battery posts you can! They melt great, aren't hazardous like the battery plates are, and are soft.

    Happy Shootin'! -Tom

Found some of those in buckets of WW before. Along with cable ends. Rinse the oxides off and they're good to go.

Ah, Rats! You are all the way across the country from me! They are pure, as previously stated, and make great round balls for C&B revolvers.

I didn't even think of this until right now. I know the dangers of using the lead from inside the battery but I didn't even consider this as an option.

    Oh yeah, grab 'em.

If ya have any concerns--- rinse them in some water with baking soda to eat up any remaining 'acid germs'.

you need to get as many barrels as you can get. Considering where you live, you need to buy as many barrels as you can afford and he will sell.
You can always purchase TIN later to mix up for correct alloy.
