    #12 shot and shotmaker

I have been looking for some #12 shot and only found one source and its about $40 for 10# shipped so im thinking of making a shotmaker. I saw it mentioned that the smooth plate that the lead rolls on into the coolant produces better shot the smoother it is. Im wondering if it would be possible to use a piece of plate glass? I dont know if it would crack but i kind of doubt it epically with a the small amount of lead.

I will say that the very small shot is not made the same way as say 8shot. I am guessing it is a side effect or "cull" I would say if you want to try to make some to make a one drip pot and drop it on a piece of glass from a 2 or 3 ft height. You may try in a garbage can. Sort of like what solider does when it drips and hits the floor, you see the little no 12s every place. Good luck
