    Lead acquisition forum suggestion

Just making a suggestion of a forum to discuss sources for acquiring casting metal.

The metro area where I live was just hit by a romping hailstorm. I have 3 cars and a roof to get fixed. The roofer said his company still installs lead flashing around the plumbing vents that penetrate the roof. DING DING the bell went off. I asked him what he does with the scrap flashingsit. He says his crews just toss it. He said I might ask for the scrap flashings from the roofing crews as they go through my neighborhood. It seems to have potential. There will be thousands of roofs replaced around me. Seems like a scrounging opportunity.

Source of pure lead usually are:
    roof sheets
    plumbers solder
    pipes
    cable sheathing
    xray containers
    battery connectors, posts
    fishing weights
    boat ballasts
    stained glass solder

    lead/tin alloys:
    wheel weights
    solder bar
    typefaces
    range scrap
    pewter

    Don't bother with:
    CRT glass
    lead acid batteries
    PC board solder

Modern plumber's solder is either a lead/tin alloy, or nearly pure TIN.
Also, why do you have PC board solder on your "don't mess with" list? I use plenty of electronic solder here, and save the drippin's for alloying work. Most of it is 60/40 Tin/Lead.

    Happy Shootin'! -Tom
