First Post & Of Course a question.

Hello everyone, been reading alot of posts, like the tone of the board and the great information that is on here.

Picked up a Marlin 1894 in 32.20, this is a modern manufactured rifle.

Hoping someone might be able to answer my question on IMR 8208 XBR powder.

I use this in my 30.30 and 5.56 loads and really like it, looking at load data for the 32.20 the slowest listed powder is H 4198 rated at 72 on the burn charts with 8208 coming in at 85.

I'm going to be shooting 95 grain and 115 grain gas checked bullets, and was wondering if IMR 8208 XBR would be suitable, or is it too slow burning?

Thanks for any knowledge you can impart to me.

Way to slow. H110 is plenty slow for 32-20, RE 7 is about as slow as I would ever go.

I would suggest starting with something in the area of 5 gr of Unique. This with a 120 plain base is what I shoot the most in my Marlin. I shoot this most because it works so darn well.

Thanks for the reply and info. I do have some RL7 and Unique so I'll look at loads with those powders.

    Husker,

Welcome aboard!! I am fairly new here also and these guys are great to help out!! I ,also, would try the Unique loads first and then work up from there.

    300MP maybe, 296, H110, LiL gun, 2400, AA#9, maybe even blue dot, HS7, 4756. I'm not a fast powder lover.
We need somebody/something to keep the government (cops and bureaucrats too) HONEST (by non government oversight).

Every "freedom" (latitude) given to government is a loophole in the rule of law. Every loophole in the rule of law is another hole in our freedom. When they even obey the law that is. Too often government seems to feel itself above the law.

We forgot to take out the trash in 2012, but 2016 was a charm! YESSS!

rest of the posters are correct. stick with slow burning pistol powders for high velocitys and faster buring pistol powders for plinking loads.

I use AA9 for my accuracy rifle loads in my Marlin's, 115 FN CB's.
