I have seen very little mention of bullet weight.
When do you weigh your Boolits?
I weigh mine right after sizing and try to stay within .5 of a grain. I figure, why do anything else to a Boolit that may end up being a reject.

If I'm casting for best accuracy I weigh before I size!
Keeping them within a half grain is good but 1 grain is just fine! I've weighed Jacketed rifle that varied 2 to 3 grains and still shot under an inch if the rifle was right!
What you really want to look for is extreme varaitions in weight: the boolit that is either 5 grains to heavy or to light! I have found those right in the middle of a batch of fresh castings!
Some times only one or two in a thousand some times 4 or 5. These boolits are the garonteed flyers because the weight will cause the load to shot high or low since they are oustside the "sight in" parameters.
Bought a digital scale for this as it's fast and easy, if you try to weigh boolits on a beam scale
you'll drive yourself nuts!
Thanks HeavyMetal,
I've been using an old 500gr Max. Magnetic dampened RCBS of my brothers. My little Oil Dampened scale only goes up to 300 grains.
I only weigh when people ask me. I go by mold stated weight.
I do not compete however.
I generally don't bother for plinking rounds. I do inspect and sort out obvious baddies. If I am working up loads or shooting for real accuracy I weigh everything before sizing or lubing. It just seems logical to get the all sorted before I put any added work into them.

rifle competition is plus or minus .3,,,,,sometime .5 depending on the rifle. pistol is plus or minus .5
all done before sizing/lube.

only accurate rifles are interesting
You'd better wait at least 2 weeks for the gravitational attraction of the lead to stabilize after they cool.

I wait a couple days, then weigh, then size, then package up and store for long term aging.
