Why aren't our highways and bridges lines with people honoring our fallen?
If you get a woman involved in the shooting sports you have involved her whole family. This in turn dramatically increases the number of people who support the 2nd Amendment. Please support women in becoming shooters.

Are you going to be there? http://secondamendmentmarch.com/

I ask that myself every Memorial Day when I'm presenting flags "on behalf of a grateful nation" to young widows and grieving parents. . .

The answer I always get, no matter who I ask, is that:

    A) (from fellow vets) We're too busy in America to truly appreciate and honor our veterans--living and deceased.

    B) (from fellow vets) Memorial Day is a retailers holiday as well as the official start to boating season. Who the hell has time to honor the veterans that gave us and continue to defend our freedoms to shop and boat?

    C) (from civilians) Well, isn't that what you soldier boys are SUPPOSED to do?

    D) (from civlians) It was their job. I don't get praise and recognition for doing MY job.

Basically, our media and government has turned Memorial Day and Veterans Day into just another entitlement mentality--Americans are OWED the privilege of freedom and at exactly ZERO COST to themselves. "Let someone else go and defend our country and what it stands for. I'm too busy sending text messages and watching American Idol."

My namesake (Recluse) says it all. I'm sick to death of the vast, vast majority of American society and refuse to have anything to do with it. Our circle of acquaintances is extremely small; our circle of friends even smaller. If you do not believe in the Second Amendment, if you believe socialism is okay or "worth a try," if you do not honor and respect our military, and if you are not registered to vote, our attitude is "the hell with you."

Is it any wonder why our circle of friends is so small in today's me-first society?

I think you should expand your base of folks you meet.

Our Rembrance Day on Nov. 11th is one of the most celebrated days of the year in Canada.

Perhaps I just meet the wrong Americans but the ones I meet are very grateful of their servicemen and women and what they do. You can always find the exception but the exception is not the rule.

    Bob, agree.

In the small towns and out in the country, it is night and day. But in the cities, the sheople are the most ungrateful, wimpified, whining, me-first, primates on the planet.

Problem is, people will tell you what you want to hear. I love the "I support our troops but I don't support the war" crowd. For all these people who so unwaveringly support our military and servicemen, it's getting harder to find people showing up at the memorials and ceremonies every Memorial Day. About the only people we see show up are other veterans, relatives and close friends. Rarely will we see anyone unrelated. But boy, everyone you run across jumps on the bandwagon about how "grateful" they are. . . . but they're not grateful enough to give even a half-hour of their time out of the entire year for graveside memorial services for those people they're so "grateful" for.

Basically, I just think that most people don't give a damn anymore. We've become so stinking apthetic as a nation (evidenced by dismal registered voter turnout) these days, that we just trudge through our daily existence without thinking about it. Only thing that matters to the city folks is hurrying up and getting home to watch Survivor or American Idol and sending a few text messages.

Basically, society needs a big enema.

I am so glad Mr Greenwood did that for our brothers in Canada who are paying the price of fighting for freedom.
All I could think of watching the clip was how come in America we don't do the same thing and How come when my war was going on they threw garbage at the troops, and spit on them and called us baby killers? Yea my war was Viet Nam and no you will not find in my records that I was there, I just wore a uniform and did my military duty and what ever else my country asked. I am listed as DAV and more so now then not these days.
But it is all about what the media in this country thinks of something as to how folks see it. I don't do much anymore when November 11 rolls around as I got sick of standing there saluting my country's flag and listening to the nasty comments and trying real hard not to react.
I would still die for my country and still might have to with the way things are going and no it is not the country that the self named Messiah in Washington now sees it either. I am old enough to remember when America stood for more then greed, personal power and the attitude of our elected officals to think that they are some how better then the common man or woman.
America came from the fires of freedom and one day she will again come from the fires of freedom and gunsmoke and bullets and blood. I only hope our dear friends in Canada are on our side and not the enemy working for our enemies in Washington. I have known many Canadians over the years who are just like me simple god fearing, bible carrying firearm toting citizens and freemen to the death.
May you returning heros of Canada rest in peace in a free nation until the end of time
later brothers we can talk and laugh and tell tales of military events know only to those who serve and bleed for freedom.
Beware of a government that fears its citizens having the means to protect themselves.
