The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!

It was the Sutherland battalion badge in the Seaforth regiment during the first world war with whom two of my uncles served in France. One was killed on the Somme in August 1916 going up through Death Valley to High Wood. The other survived the war, well physically at least.

Thanks!
I spent some time wearing a tam with the Lake Superior Scottish badge attached, and the Dress MacGillavry tartan as a background.
Both my grandfathers fought in France in WW I, one in the US Army and one in the Canadian Army. Just recently, we found the latter's enlistment papers on-line at a Canadian government website. I have his Glengarry here somewhere.
I personally was very lucky that both Grand-dads survived; otherwise I wouldn't be here, typing these lines!

Okay, here I am without all my gear on (also where my nickname comes from)
Good grief Pinsnscrews. Is that the elbow we are seeing? Don't mean to make light of your situation but my scrap bucket contains stuff that looks an awful lot like that.
