Picked up my new pistol today.

Got the call from the lgs/pawn shop today. The background check had went through, and to come pick up my Tisas 1911 9mm Stingray.
There wasn't any Tisas pistols in the area, and some of the owners and counter people in the stores had never heard of Tisas. I've read a lot of reviews and watched a lot of videos on the Tisas, and decided to order one. I have some expierience with the Turkish pistols from Sarsilmaz, and they are nice pistols in there own right, but the Tisas is definately a step up in quality. Tisas firearms are also manufactured in Turkey. I like the 1911 platform, and wanted a lighter model than my two other 1911's. The Stingray has an alloy (aka aluminum) frame, with a steel slide. Weight is 30 ounces, with a 4.25" barrel. Got it home, and immediately field stripped the pistol, and "Oh My". What a work of art. The outside is very, very nice, but also, the inside is just as nice. The only machine marks that I noticed were on either the side of the barrel lug. The pistol has a very nice Cerakote finish.The clearance between the frame rails and slide are very minimal. Trigger pull is light, with just a slight amount of take up. Looking forward to getting to the range, and getting on with the break in. So far, I am very pleased with my purchase.

It does sound pretty nice, congratulations. I wasn't aware that they were making a lightweight model. Heck, I'd like to see pictures including some of it stripped.

The Turks seem to be doing guns the right way. I hear nothing but good reports about them, no matter what brand name or style. Keep us posted, please..and photos would be nice!

Thank you all for the replies. I've watched a few videos with tours of the factory and talk about "state of the art". Bottom line is quality, and it can be seen in the videos. I'll try to get a tutoring on posting pictures. When I can get to the range, I'll give a report.

You will like that Tisas. I have the 1911 A1. 45ACP. I had never owned, or handled a 1911 before I bought it but I was impressed with the quality. I really need to give it a workout again.

Here's the TISAS Stingray pictures and range reports!!!!



The target pic information may be hard to read, but did the best I could for first picture posting, thanks to my wife. She gave me a crash course, and yes I did crash a few times.
Testing was done at 15 yards. 4 cast bullet styles tested. 125 gr. CN from T&B bullets, Sweethome Oregon, Lee 125 gr. RN, Arsenal moulds 124 gr. TC, and Accurate 130A FP. Powder used was CFE Pistol at 4.9 grains for all loads. The 4 different factory loads were tested were, Win. 115 gr. Silvertip, Sig Sauer 124 gr.V-Crown, Ammo Inc 124 TMJ, and Igaman 124 gr. FMJ.. I fired a total of 180 rounds. There was one failure to feed. I was shooting 9 round groups per the limit of the magazines. In one session, the 8th round fed, buy the 9th round jumped up and kept the slide from closing into battery. Other than that, the pistol ate everything I fed it. As can be seen, the pistol is not of target grade. The average grouping is from 2 1/4" to 2 1/2" 'IF' the flyers are taken away. I will take the heat for some of the flyers, as me getting used to the pistol and trigger. The rest was a two handed hold, setting on a sand bag rest. Most groups shot about 1"+ to the left and about 2"+ low. Rear sight was so tight, it couldn't be moved.
The pistol pictures make the finish look rouge and or like machine marks. The pictures do not do this pistol and craftsmenship justice. The quality has to be seen to be appreciated.

I cannot get good resolution. What range were those groups shot at?

Groups were 9 shots each, at 15 yards.

Oops, I failed to remark on the magazines. Both magazines functioned properly in feeding the ammunition. On the other hand, the magazine springs are fairly stiff. The first five rounds feed into the magazine easily. # 6 starts getting stiff, #7 pushes back, #'s 8 and 9 are uncomfortable to feed in the magazine. Things start rubbing down inside, and does not feel smooth at all. On rounds 6 thru 9, I started using the UPLULA magazine loader. That helped a lot. Maybe higher quality magazines would be in order?
Also, I wear x-large gloves. My mitts are probably bigger than most. As you can see, the pistol has plenty of room for me to get a good grip on the pistol.
