    Beef Dip?

I got a good deal on steak at a local store so I stocked up on steaks. I wanted to try something other than grilling so I made Beef Dip sandwiches. I grilled a steak and toasted the bread on the grill and that part was good. I tried the packet of Au Ju and that is where the good went bad. The dipping sauce tasted like soy sauce.

Is there an easy way to make the dipping sauce when there’s no beef drippings to use? I ask for easy because I’m preparing the entire sandwich. I guess I would like something that has a beef flavor.

I use "better than Broth" beef bullion paste.

I love this stuff! You could use a little less water and get a richer flavor.

Regular brown gravy mix is rather tasty. Also possible you just didn't mix the au ju lean enough. It's also hard to go wrong with basic beef bullion and corn starch. Just adjust to taste.

I know, right! Between casting, Contenders, and buckshot and cooking recipes, we could definitely burn some days and powder.

What’s that massive gun show in Tulsa every year?

Better than Bullion beef base paste, I use it all the time to make a dip for sandwiches. It IS salty so adjust the amount of water to beef base as needed for your taste.

Wanamacher show. Which I believe is next weekend. Man, my feet are killing me for a day or two after that show and my wallet is usually quite thin afterwards also. I usually find something, be it brass, bullets , some that have been out of production for awhile, or a mould or two, or who knows.

There's a low sodium version out there, not easy to find. Still salty enough, but worth the effort to find it.

And there are chicken, ham and vegetable versions out there.

I use the chicken version as the basis for chicken noodle soup.

I had to remind myself that beef dip and sheep dip are not the same. I was thinking something you pushed calves through to kill ticks and bugs.
I haven't been able to stomach wet bread since Vacation and Aunt Edna.
