Out havin' fun with the 41

Went to the range today with my new Smith and Wesson
shot maybe 100 rounds all at 50 yards
consistently banging steel with my boolits
I tried 3 different styles and the Keith was by far the most accurate the others were the MP 41 hammer and the RCBS 210 gr Keith? but the Accurate Molds Keith was the clear winner
I used Isotope alloy and HS-6, 2400, A#9 and Unique for powders 2400 and #9 with heavier charges
Going to have to go to the 100 yard bench next time
I did even shoot at a bullseye just for s&g and that did better than I though it would

Now you know why some of us really like the .41. I never saw one that was not accurate. james

Sounds like you had a lot of fun. I like trying new bullets and powders for my favorite cartridges.

I've been hoping to come across a Blackhawk in 41 Magnum, I haven't gotten into the caliber yet.

I shoot my .41's at 100 yards a lot. Can usually get 4-5" groups with Unique and Lyman 41032.

Gallon jugs at 200 are probably doable with that gun and load.

I started my love with the 41 with a 4-5/8" blued blackhawk. Then got a stainless bisley 5-1/2". That did feel way better but didn't shoot any better. Then I got a 57 in 6" form. The rugers are both gone. Added a Henry 41 lever, too. It is darn fun, too. I took a deer at 100 yds with the lever last fall. Only animal I've ever shot in the heart twice. I shoot marmots with the 57 and NOE 237 HPs. I'm solid to 50 yds or so. Still need to take big game with that one, and I can't wait.

What grips do you use on your m57? Thanks.

    Got me. I expected a Model 41 not a .41. Can’t go wrong with a Smith wheelgun. My fav is a 625.

Hogue rubber. It's not wood, but it feels good on a cold day. I have some hard polypro hogue on a 686; that starts off cold but warms quickly. Not gross on a hot day warm, but comfortable. But no recoil mitigation like a bigger gun can use.

I killed a jackrabbit around 110 steps with a 4" M57. I did have a rest on the window of the truck and luck was with me but still fun to see him do a flip and start kicking. The old 41 mag is no slouch.

Another 41 fan here, have a 6.5" BH and a Henry.
Killed a doe quite a few years ago with the BH.
I think the deer know when I'm out and about with the Henry as I've never seen one while carrying it.
Maybe this will be the year. Got a 270 gr WFN loaded over some H110 that I'd like to see what it will do.
