I purchased a die and punch with nut and set screw from Bruce. It was top notch workmanship and sized boolits exactly to size. What more can you ask for. I will not hesitate to order again.

    Thanks, Floyd

In a word, no. The systems are entirely different.

I need to check my sizing dies set and I will order some. Can you make custom orders like .3565 or .3585 for example.

Based on some reading, I believe these are dies that are not 2 bullets long. That is, the bullet you just put in will be pushed out. This is good for soft bullets or anything that does not support pushing one bullet on top of another.

What is the diameter of the:

Star top punch 1/2"-27 pitch. $25

I am wondering if it can be used for 9mm. I assume so, but I know different sizes were made to fit different dies (I have a .445 punch with the .452 die)

Not on my Stars. If it is much shorter than It already is it won't seal. Must be for guys who do hi-tek coating and just want to size.

Here is a picture of a short die, next to a standard length die, that was made by Lathesmith. These are for sizing bullets that do not need to be lubed (i.e. PC, Hi-Tec, Plated, etc.).

These are for the powder coating tribe. No need for lube holes, so they are made shorter to pass thru in one stroke.

I spec +.0005 -.000 but usually am closer. Your alloy may vary. I final hone using 14 bhn alloy to shove through and measure.

Ammohead sent me a .355 short die before getting my check in the mail, and the PC'd boolits emerge at exactly .355. I use both a motorized and manual sizer, and the reduction in effort is very substantial in resizing boolits from several MP mold designs. It's not just the shorter die, in my opinion, that reduces the resizing effort, but also the excellent finish. With Magma closing and Lathesmith retiring, Ammohead has the service and precision, at a fair price, for anyone needing to upgrade their Star sizer die collection.
