    Saeco #441 Weight ?

I friend loaned me a Saeco #441 4 cavity mold.
From what I have looked up it is supposed to be 240gr.
Folks say they drop right at 240gr. and about .432
These are dropping at 260gr. and .430 diameter.
They look great, but that is a Huge weight difference.
Lead is range lead at about 14bhn then a bit of Lino type mixed in, maybe 14:1

My Saeco #441 drops .433" diameter and weighs 266 grains in Wheelweights. It is an older San Diego. CA mold from the early 1970s. If you want a true 240-grain mold which is lever action friendly with a large meplat for game use look at the Accurate 43-240F. My design for a general purpose .44 bullet. Seating depth and cartridge OAL same as factory 240 softpoints. I load 20 grains of IMR4227 for 1000 fps revolver, 1300 fps carbine at ~20,000 psi.

So I did some digging and have read that others 441 molds that drop at 260.
Anyway I want a traditional SWC, does not have to be lever action friendly.
Will be shot from a Ruger SBH.
    And between 240 and 250gr.
So I am going to give this mold back to my friend.

The 43-240F sure looks good, but I'm concerned the slight bevel base won't work with my Lyman lubesizer.

My #441 is pre-Redding that I bought from Paul Jones in the '80's.

I looked & all I have available are in loaded rounds marked "250 gr." (I need to cast some more).

I also have a 4 cav. Lyman 428421 & have many many many of those sized, lubed & ready to load.

I prefer the #441 to the #429421 simply because it has a larger meplat. My house gun (3" Ruger GP100) is always loaded with the #441 boolit.

I believe most Saeco molds, like RCBS moulds, were cut for use with linotype alloy. The alloy (RL + a tudge of lino) you're using apparently has a higher concentration of lead which makes it heavier.

    Saeco moulds.

The bullet diameters and weights presented in this list are based on the use of Taracorp’s Lawrence Magnum bullet alloy (2% tin, 6% antimony, 1/4% arsenic, 91.75% lead).
