I’m curious what the CAS shooters are using. Mind sharing

I saw some astronomical bids a few months back. Apparently the suppressed guys use it as well.

Well, you either have to get approved as a hazmat shipper by the carrier or you just YOLO it and hope nobody finds out or nothing goes wrong.

My guess is that they're probably going the latter route...

It makes beautiful subsonic loads in 308.

Friend of mine uses TB for almost all his pistol loading just because he is paranoid about double charges.

I have not shot CAS for a long time. I know Clays, and W231/HP38 were used for light loads by a few guys I knew but any fast powder will do the job.

I just went and looked. I’ve got 8 cans of Trail Boss, all the same lot #. And daddy needs a new diode laser!

My recollection is that it was discontinued a few years ago. I never used it or had any desire to, so it was "useless" information and not important enough to make it memorable.

I thought it was just an issue with it not being imported anymore... If it truly was discontinued, I think I'd be looking for a new powder instead of spending $200 on a 1/2 Pound of powder I wouldn't be able to get more of.

I bought a half pound bottle several years back to see what the fuss was about. I was underwhelmed. I still have 6 or 7 oz. left. Maybe I'll try it in an old top break 38 S&W. It's too expensive to use in a large case as it's supposed to be loaded to fill the case to the bullet.

Trail Boss was the only powder that gave me accurate subsonic loads in my .350RM; averaging 0.36" inches for three shots at 50yds.
The typical fast powders that worked well in smaller cartridges, just weren't consistent enough for that large of case.
I have enough for now; and am optimistic that if/when I run out, CBI will perform comparably.

I can somewhat understand people paying elevated prices for a product with very specific performance characteristics, that cannot be achieved with other commercially-available powder.

Things are getting really crazy in the retail world, almost paralleling geopolitical decisions.
These men and their hypnotized followers call this a new order. It is not new. It is not order.

If you are in N AZ I would be very happy to trade 9 oz bottles of TB for 16 oz bottles of H4895.

huh. I went and looked too. 3 full cans and one 3/4 or so. Looks like time to list in a locally. I like the stuff a lot. but if I can get stupid money out of it. That's a no brainer.

I hadda go look. YIKES! No bids on the current offerings, FWIW.

(I'm another tried-it-and-dropped it. Miserable performance in my .38 Special. Still have what must be 6 oz. left in the bottle.)

High pressure and low velocity. Can't find a use for that combination.

TB is a great powder for the .43 Spanish. I bought a large jug some years ago just for my roller. It makes more accurate loads for my .43 than anything that I have tried including (gasp) the holy black. And no more recoil than black. my experience anyway, james
