Bushnell Trophy XLT 1-4x24 any good?

I was looking for a new compact scope for my little Zastava 85 .223 bolt action and came across the Bushnell Trophy XLT 1-4x24 with .223 drop zone reticle. I've always been impressed with the Trophy series, I think they are the best cheap scopes out there. Amazon has these for only $79.95. Anybody have experience with them?

On my 223 & 6.5 Creedmoor bolt actions, i went with the trophy 6x18 power for shooting Benchrest. The Savage rifles both came with 3x9 Banners. Shot around 2000 rounds with 223 using the 3x9 Banner. No issues.

Your 1x4 power would not be my choice. A 3x9 or 4x12 may be a better choice?

As for the Bushnell brand, cant go wrong. Been using them since the 1970.

Thanks. I have several rifles with larger scopes, my Zastava is a compact, walking varminter sort of rifle. Skinny 20" barrel and open sights, unfortunately I can't use sights with any kind of precision beyond about 75 yards hence the desire for a compact scope. In the rolling hills of central KY, 200 yards is the max you would be shooting. 100 yards is more typical. I have the Banner 1-4x32 on one of my .30-30's and it has been a really good little scope. I've never had a 30mm scope before and the Trophy 1-4x30 comes with a .223 specific reticle. So, I think I'll order me one on payday!

I was all on board until I saw that it had exposed turret knobs. I can imagine that pulling in and out of a case would alter adjustment...or maybe not. i have not handled one

Some of the exposed turret scopes have a means of locking it in place, no idea if this one does.

Fergie, did you buy that scope? I just made the mistake of going to MidWayUSA and looking and lo and behold, there was the upgrade Bushnell 4500 1-4 30mm in a one time deal for $124. It is on the way. It has standard adjust turrets and duplex plus it is a fully mulitcoated lense system. We'll see.

I've had one on a 300blk AR for a little while. Pretty clear for an inexpensive scope, has held adjustment through about 100 rounds. Turrets are plenty snug, so I wouldn't be concerned about knocking it out of adjustment just handling it. Search around a little, I believe they are discontinued or a new model coming out, so deals can be had.
