Best to sell your used car yourself. Make out a bill of sale and put the buyer's information on it and have them sign it so you get a tax credit if you're buying another vehicle. Take it to the DMV when you apply for your title transfer and license plates. Or at least that's allowable in my state. There is a time limit. 60 days I think.

There are those who prefer saving money, like most here are; then there is those who are ok throwing it away just so they don't have to haggle and or do anything to rid them of the old car. Both ideas work just fine. In my case neither happens because my kids and grandkids all need cars...

12 or 14 years ago i was buying a new car. i sold my older car to a cousin. we did the saleat the dealership where i bought the new car. somehow the dealership did the arrangement so that i didn't have to pay as much sales tax on the new car. what did they do??
