These may be looking for their buddy that I shot a week ago. Or just taking a shortcut to the woods.
Those corn fed dove probably taste good if they could catch one!
The cow in the background seems unconcerned but I’m sure she’s aware.

My son shoots them at night using a thermal scope - he doesn't try to trap or bait, just catches them crossing pastures. He works on a large ranch and probably kills 3-5 every week.
Here is my one good coyote story:
We have lived at our current place for 30 years and always had coyotes come through with some regularity. About 15 years ago, two of the dogs and I walked out to my shop, which is about 30 yards from the house. For some reason - we walked around behind the back wall; this was late afternoon in October but still daylight. The dogs were growling but not going crazy - just a low rumble. We turned the corner and there were about 20 coyotes strung out in several lines - they had been moving but stopped and just stared at us. Everybody froze - the dogs got a little louder but never barked or ran at them. I told the dogs to come with me and they obeyed - we went back to the house so I could get a gun. Of course, the 'yotes were long gone when I went back.
I've always said I'm glad they weren't Comanches - never would have made it back to the house...LOL
