    BCB,

When I first set up the spin drift calculation modification to the Precision Ballistics~Ultimate software, the spin drift value was simply added to the right or left wind displacement. Even though I was the one that set it all up, I was constantly commiting the same error as you describe.

My primary objective when programing the Precision Software is to make the applications as user friendly as possible so, after a lot of frustration, I finally set up the trajectory table with both the spin drift and wind deflection values. The trajectory calculation values are much less confusing now.
    Respectfully,

I bought version 3.9, and am about to start messing with the 6.5 grendel. Lots of guys are reporting good results with leverevolution, so I went to ql and this powder is not listed. I sent an email to neco asking about updates, but sometimes emails get dumped into the spam and not read. Does anyone have any info on ql updates beyond v3.9?

I bought some 800x for use in 10mm. Powder isn't listed. I was also getting some crazy pressure predictions w/ published Longshot loads. I still love the program but the lack of powder updates is starting to bother me. I can think of eight that I have that aren't listed.

Dragon, I've found most of what I've run on ql to be pretty close. There have been a few exceptions, though. Running some calcs on the 22 tcm, it showed pressures to be low with 110, and velocities to be somewhere around 1400 fps when my Chrony showed 2150 or so.

I know it can be screwy w/ straight wall cases. And 10mm sure seems to be one of them. The max published load of Longshot was showing something like 60k PSI. This is with a Hornady jacketed bullet so it's not like I'm trying to work up a cast load. But it's something I want to do w/ it. It gave really high pressures w/ a few other published loads as well.

+1. I've had issues of overstated pressures in QL with 6.8 SPC, 204 Ruger, and a couple of other cartridges using published data. Mind you, these weren't theoretical runs, but actual tests where I fed back the chrono data into QL and see what pressure QL calculates were (theoretically) required to achieve those velocities.

All in all, I treat it as a great tool, but nothing substitutes for published data and careful observation as you work up loads.

Sorry, I missed the post that V3.9 was updated only for Windows 10 compatibility

Which still begs the question of when can we expect a data update. I have emailed several times and have had no response. Many new powders and bullets out there that need to be added.

I have V.3.8 that I updated recently and it has 23 and 26...

That may have been the powders added by the update--This I am not sure of...

    Good-luck...BCB

I just got v.3.9 for Win 10 computer, and the RL 23-26 powders are there,
and there is several new files added to the main sections, works great,
and you can open the powder ba rate to better fit your shooting results etc.

Lots of new stuff to check out,
when compared to the v2.8, when it first came out.

    Tia,
    Don

Was trying to figure out today if there are updates to the .BUL files by some of the bullet manufactures and found that my Ranch Dog file was older than one on his website. Does anyone know of any other updates or additions? Whole process started when I went looking for the Lyman #258231 and it was not in Quickload or on the Lyman site. From watching this thread I know Quickload has been updated to work with Windows 10 but there have been any data updates in quite some time.

I got QuickLoad version 3.9 and when I installed it, it wiped out my saved loads and was pretty screwy. What did I do wrong or ???????????????????????

I was able to recover the before version (3.8) and got everything back.

Just looked and saw the update for Quickload is listed as "The data contained is current as of SEP 2015". Anybody have this update and know what the update contains?

Travelor it probably installs itself in another folder maybe? So you could try backing up the old loads install new version and importing them? I don't know how it's in 3.9 just suggesting a rough guideline for trouble shooting.FWIW QL 3.6 will run smooth in Linux using Wine.

Does QL have the capabilities to calculate 22 rimfire data...

Or, can a person just pick a 22 caliber cartridge and plug in the boolit weight and the velocity one is getting from the rimfire cartridge...

I am not looking to be "severely" accurate on the output, just approximations of impact areas out to 100 yards...

Or, should I just put up paper targets and see what it actually is?...

    Thanks...BCB
