FYI to all QL users that have not purchased an update lately.

If your primary desire is to get more powder data, I stumbled across a potential free alternative. Shooters World has a QL data file link at:

    https://shootersworldpowder.com

The file from the above looks like it has the Shooters World powders added in on top of the standard list of other brand powders. Depending on when they assembled this file, it may have powders from other vendors that are newer than what you already have.

Paste the downloaded file into the folder located on your computer at C:\Users\Your-User_Name\Documents\QuickLOAD\data\powders

Then open QuickLoad and at the upper left of the page click on the "Data: Add, change, Load Save" option then select "Propellant Data" then click on "Load a Powder File" and you should see the "shootersworld.pro" file that you just pasted in the Quickload folder. Select that file and then click the OK button at the top right of the window.
Now you should have all those powder files to choose from

    Hope this Helps.

Yeah, OK. It's a substitute for the indigenous .PRO file, not an update like what QL issues.

I also will need an external drive. They are not expensive at all

I'm curios about quick load and what it does. Will it give me a starting load for a given cartridge and bullet with certain powders? Does it recognize surplus powders? I've seen different versions at different prices. Any gurus care to chime in? Thanks

    Yes.

Only drawback is that their database of powders doesn't include some of the most recent ones, and it does not cover surplus powders. You can create your own cartridge case and bullet data, but powders cannot be added, since the performance data has to be determined by lab testing.

Make sure you fully understand it before using it. There are a lot of parameters to be controlled to get accurate load estimates.

I use it exclusively now, mostly because I'm loading obsolete cartridges for which there never was any published data.

I'm running it on Windows XP-Pro, an old Dell D-630 laptop that has an inbuilt CD drive.
