have a Lee mold that doesn't exist

casting 9 mm for a friend

dug through my statch and came up with a Lee that I marked 9 mm/38; I've had it for years

cute RN at 115 grs

he and I are happy

he wanted to make some on his own

the number on the mold is 90306, which, when I checked the website is a 125 gr FP .38 Sp mold

curious

have an email off to Lee is see if they can shed any light

Just a guess- If it didn't sell well, they discontinued it.

Lee used numbers like Kmart used blue light specials. Another reason why few of us refer to lee molds by number.

Looks a mighty bit like an in-between of the 356-102-1R and the 356-125-2R. I actually found another mold earlier today that they also no longer produce. A 32cal 73gr RN, see in the post below, which also looks rather similar to your 9mm variant. From what I can tell, over the years they've dropped the less popular molds just like any other mold company. And then just reused their product numbers. Probably another reason everyone refers to them in the previous way, such as 356-102-1R, as that is a bit more descriptive.

Not at all uncommon. Going by Lee mold numbers is...Sketchey

I used to know some folks that worked over there at PPI.

About the Lee mold, over forty years ago I used the 115 grain round nose mold to drill out 3/8" to make bullets for a 1861 Colt.

Back in the 1980's a friend gave me a couple of 45 caliber Keith semiwadcutters, only they were maybe 200 grains, no crimping groove and only one grease groove. Looked a lot like an abbreviated 452 252 swc that lee makes now. he didn't remember where he had gotten them. He thought they were probably meant for 45 auto rim use. Would be a nice mold to have.

got a reply back from Lee

said it was a production mold of theirs, not a special order from the 1990s to 2000s

from what was shared above figure it went the way of the dinasours

it is a great mold for plinking and CAS matches

now if it would stop raining in Houston I could mold a few thousand
