    Most places are like that.
Some are even super strict about employees not carrying a concealed weapon on their property.
Store employees are (usually) not Police Officers.
The store is also open to huge civil suits if the employee hurts the crook using unnecessary force,
or even if the crook hurts or kills the employee.

The stolen item isn't the employee's money or gun in this case.
As an average, hourly employee, it's foolish to put yourself at that much potential risk.

In life: We are given tests, and learn lessons.

OK People. Enough of this idle chit-chat.
This ain't your Grandma's sewing circle.

Saw that also. I think that there is a difference between a grocery store employee preventing theft of food and the responsible person working for an FFL preventing the theft of a gun . I can see possibly liability issues if employees knowingly allow gun to be stolen and then it’s used to kill or injure someone.

I read that on news a couple of weeks ago. Sad state when lawyers prevent retailers from stopping theft.

In TX, Academy staff hold on to your ID prior to holding a firearm.
Made sense that most firearm counters are situated further back of the store.
Poor staff got ‘em on technicality (abandoning post) rather than chasing the perp.
