    Cz 527

I have quite the fondness for the CZ 527!

I have one each in 223 and 204. I was extremely disappointed when CZ discontinued them. I do not understand why they dropped them and hope the company comes to its senses and begins building them once more.

I would have liked to have acquired one in 22 Hornet but at the used prices lately I am more inclined to sell the ones I have and "cash in" than buy a used one at such super hyper inflated prices today!

(Trust me, my 527s are not going anywhere though)

That said my on the ranch daily driver is a Ruger American Compact in 223, another rifle/cartridge combo that Ruger dropped in that cartridge!

    I have a pair of CZ-527
    222 and 223

Funny story, I had sold the 223 (when I bought the 222) to a friend about 9 years ago. Last year, he tells me he wants to sell the 223 and asks if anyone is interested in it. I looked at the going market, and said I would buy it from him, depending on what he wanted for it? He sold it back to me for same price I charged him. Ya gotta love friends like that.

I really liked the little CZ 527 actioned rifles. In the 223 or smaller case sized cartridges they were hard to beat. My 22 Hornet Full Stock CZ 527, one of two 22 Hornet CZ's.

Great rifles-- I have the full stock model in 223 and the carbine in 7.62 x 39. They both do very, very well with cast and jacketed loads.

That would be quite the deal if I could find a CZ American in 22 Hornet in good shape for what they were selling for prior to being discontinued!

A friend of a friend of mine would do back flips if he could find such a deal in the 17 Hornet.

Owned a couple of lefty’s. The rifles were very accurate with a decent trigger.
The negatives: Make sure the bolt handle did not hit the scope and the protruding magazine looks terrible.

I would agree with snowwolfe about the two negatives. Bolt handles get ground so either Calhoon or Warne (lowest available rings) can be used to get scopes as low as possible, and the trigger guards and a magazine gets modified into three a round capacity so it doesn't extend much from below the stock. The original staggered Mauser magazine setup would have made these rifles about perfect. The 22 Hornet Full Stock above has both modifications. Even without these changes the CZ 527 rifles are a pretty neat setup. Just look at what happened to the prices after they were discontinued the cost for one now is about double what it was before CZ quit theses for the model 600.

It is really sad they are discontinued.

Sorry to hear you lost it!

It was another cartridge/rifle combo on my "bucket list"!

One has to wonder what CZ 's bottom line is with regards to dropping the 527 and rolling out the 600 series in its place.

I've listened to comments made about CZ's actions lately, it seems the leaders of the Colt side of the business have taken over. These might be the same leaders who bankrupt Colt. What will they do to CZ USA?

Their styling on all the new long guns is off, from mildly odd to puking in church.

They have some failed artist in charge of cosmetics “updates”. Totally ruins the classics by dumbness.....

etching the model name in to rimfire wood stocks, why!!?
adding extra weird wavy lines to carved stock cheek pieces, it looks bad
the dropping of the fuel stocks but have some high end with an extended forend that doesn’t quite go to the muzzle, like halfway between sporter stock and full mannlicher stock. No one asked for such a monstrosity.
horrible “ checkering” in both wood and synthetic stock to add modern styling. How about no!

Mine were 22K Hornet, 17K Hornet, 19 Hornet and 19 Badger. Loved them but all gone now as I stopped varmint shooting when gas and diesel went nuts.
Still have my Coopers though and won't sell those, well maybe one day.

Have a 223 Lux. Stock has some decent figure with an atrocious finish. Too lazy to redo it,haha. Honestly just doesn't bother me. The bolt was very stiff as issued, would sit in front of my hunting shows on the tube and cycle it,wet with lube for looooong periods of time. It worked. Sweet little rig, loves cast 55's. Have a scope but rarely use it,choosing to use factory sights.... which work great for my eyes.

Love it though, even with the few minor quirks.

If the used 527 prices were not so nuts I would be happy buying a used 22 Hornet or other clambering.

Just glad I acquired my .223 and .204 before the "world went mad".
