    A blast from the past.

On the "Reloading Clinic" section of the latest magazine I was reading...

Well, darn. That did not work out so well. Maybe you have to read it as you are going to sleep with your head on a pillow.

I just got done sorting 3000 223/5.56 cases. So a couple of friends and I are going to ship the odds and ends back and forth to end up with a larger amount of one headstamp.

Not sure I'd trust that red loctite... Seems to me that a crimp on the primer pocket would be a better approach. But I'm also of the camp that if a primer pocket is bad enough to need loctite or a crimp to hold the primer in I might as well buy new brass...
Currently looking for a Lyman/Ideal 311419 Mold - PM if you have one you'd like to get rid of!

Do bear in mind the article was from 1962...
However, if One isn't sure of the "Red" Loc-Tite, One can always substitute "Green" Loc-Tite. Just pray you never want to remove the primer...

I just thought it interesting what kinds of things seen as acceptable practices 60 years ago.

I have a whole stack of American riflemean and a few others from the 50s and 60s that I have been looking at. Many things that are interesting and the same as today, or like this and different.

RW Hart used to offer a tool called a "Case Saver" that tightened primer pockets by swaging them smaller again. I have one for 22 caliber centerfires and it does work. I don't know that I'd want to use it on a thousand cases at a time, but it did actually work. This could be a big help for people who have rare cases with loose primer pockets.

I have an old article from the 60's that shows the gunsmithing needed to convert the M1 Carbine to 32-20 (!!)
Sounded like a good idea at the time ??? lol ...

I had some old formed .17 K Hornet primed cases from an estate find.
I decapped them to reuse the primers on an experiment - and found that half were seated with paper shim to take up the slack in the primer pocket.
